Spanish Riding School: The Miracle of the White Horse - vintage 1957, 16 minute film remastered

This rare, vintage film was painstakinglyĀ restored by Xenophon PressĀ in cooperation with the Lipizzan Association of North America, to provide a time capsuleĀ of the Spanish Riding School fromĀ 1957. Alois Podhajski was the director of the school at theĀ time and he can be seen riding on most of the film. Included are highlights from the gala performances ofĀ Classical Horsemanship including, airs aboveĀ the ground in-hand and under saddle, high school work, and the grand quadrille all filmed in the famed hall designed by FischerĀ von Erlach. Remarkable for the way that the horses, in real-time, appear to float in slow motion. The cadence and suspension are awe-inspiring. Likewise, the calm, unflappable unison of the riders in theĀ quadrille is magical. You are sure to be transfixed as this film presents a different Spanish Riding School than what can be witnessed today in Vienna. English narrative with musical background. 15 minutes 24 seconds. DVD.
